Women and Weight Training

Women should be lifting weights

Weight training is key to losing fat - that and being in a caloric deficit. By weight training you build lean muscle tissue, the more lean muscle tissue you have the higher your basal metabolic rate, the more calories you'll burn over the course of the day. Weight training is more effective than cardio - you don't build muscle doing tons of cardio but actually break muscle tissue down. Not only that but weight training in far more varied than completing endless hours on the treadmill. Lifting weights will not make you bulky! - Women do not have the same genetic make up as men and therefore cannot build the same muscle mass that men can. Men have seven times the amount of testosterone that a women will have, so many of my clients want to get toned and shape up and that's the result from lifting heavier weights for women, not big and bulky. Weight training increases bone density - women in particular are susceptible to osteoporosis and weight training decreases the chances of developing this. Boost you strength and confidence through weight training. Unlike fat loss, which takes a long time and a lot of patience because let's face it you've put the weight on over years not days so why should it come off quick? strength is increased week in week out and is an awesome gauge of progress. Weight training will make you more athletic, helping you to improve abilities in other sports. Helping the body adapt to the forces it will face during sports and every day life.

So ladies start lifting and I promise you won't look back.
